28th of February, 2011

The UK's leading people finding website 192.com surveyed the ten most populated towns in Wales, measuring the proportion of Welsh surnames in each town.

Surveyed towns in Wales were: Port Talbot, Neath, Wrexham, Swansea, Cwmbran, Newport, Barry, Llanelli, Cardiff and Bridgend.

The names measured included: Evans, Williams, Jones, Thomas, Bevan, Davies, Davis, Griffiths, Hughes, Jenkins, Llewellyn, Owen, Powell, Price, Probert and Rees.

We did this research to highlight how we can pinpoint any name, no matter how popular or rare. Finding family and friends with popular names can be difficult which is why 192.com can identify a family, such as a Tom living with a Margaret Jones, as well as their approximate ages."
