Scheme comprises charnwood lawn tennis club (cltc), based at nanpantan sports ground (nsg) off watermead lane, is a well-established successful community tennis club that is growing fast. To facilitate increased participation, we require additional court utilisation and quality by the replacement of three tarmac courts with an artificial clay surface and the installation of new floodlights for these three courts. In addition, the 25-year-old floodlights on the four artificial grass courts require replacement. The courts are owned by charnwood borough council (cbc), who work in partnership with cltc to maintain and develop facilities through external contractors idverde, the most recent example being the replacement of the entire perimeter fence completed in february 2017 at a cost to the club of 20,000. The lights cover 4 courts and are over 25 years old and are of poor quality with a high degree of light scatter such that it becomes a nuisance to residential properties in the area. We seek planning permission for the additional floodlights to cover a further three courts. The new and replacement floodlights will be box halide luminaires which are extremely power-efficient and direct light onto the courts with minimal light scatter to adjacent buildings. The specification for the new and replacement floodlights will accompany this application, as will our business case for the project we are working closely with the lawn tennis association (lta) on the overall plan. In addition to our tennis floodlights, there are also floodlights at the loughborough dynamo football ground, the basketball court and the car park at nsg. We are working with cbc officials on this project and have advised ward councillors ron jukes, jonathan morgan and margaret smidowicz of our plans (and received their support).
