Red Tape Studios (RTS) is owned and run by Sheffield City Council, as part of the Education Directorate. Local musicians, including members of The Human League, Comsat angels, and Cabaret Voltaire identified some of the key problems they faced: a lack of high-quality recording studios, rehearsal facilities, and a supportive infrastructure in general. Red Tape was initially conceived to address these weaknesses.
