Free Listings are given at the top of the screen. These are taken from the telephone directory database and to see these you have to enter a surname and location otherwise we will return no free results.
Below these is what we call Premium Content Results. These are Electoral Roll, Director Reports, Company Reports and BMD indexes results that match the search. If you are being asked to purchased credits it will be because you are clicking on one of these results as we do charge to view these records, if you have already purchased credits you just need to sign in at this point. How do I remove a Directory Enquiry listing
How do I remove a Directory Enquiry listing
The Operator Services Information System contains the names, telephone numbers and addresses of all the listed telephone records held by every telecoms supplier in the UK. Also known as the Directory Enquiries database, it is the database used by the 192 directory enquiry service and the new 118 directory services. OSIS contains 17 million telephone records, 13 million of which are residential. Approximately 50% of UK households are ex-directory and therefore not listed on the OSIS database.
Removal of your Directory Enquiry record
The data that we use is supplied from a core database (OSIS) to which all licensed Telecommunications Operators and Service Providers submit their customers' directory data.
You will need to contact your own service provider as we are not able to make changes to this central database on behalf of other telephone service providers.
Once they make the changes the correct data will be added to the OSIS database and from there it will cascade to all directory service providers.

Can my director report be removed or amended?
Can my director report be removed or amended?
The Directors' and Shareholders' Database contains detailed information on over 2.3 million companies and 6 million directors and key contacts. It includes directors' home addresses and exact age. It also includes detailed financial information on companies from turnover to No. of Employees. Director and company reports can be downloaded online. Derived from a number of sources, from Companies House to telephone research, the business database is updated on a monthly basis.
Remove or update my Director Report
Current UK Law requires directors and secretaries of companies, members of Limited Liability Partnerships and permanent representatives of overseas companies with a place of business in Great Britain, to supply their usual residential address for the public record.
Directors or Secretaries may apply for a confidentiality order if they believe that their residential address by being on the public record would create a serious risk that they or those who live with them, would be subject to violence or intimidation.
For form 723B to apply for a Confidentiality order under The Companies (Particulars of Usual Residential Address and Confidentiality Orders) Regulations 2002, please contact the confidentiality orders info line : +44 0845 3032 400
Inactive Principles
Companies House record information relating to all appointed and resigned directors. If a director resigns from a position and the company continues to trade then the record that he/she was once a director remains on record at Companies House indefinitely. If a company ceases to trade, director information is filed for 10 years. It is because this information is available at Companies House that we receive it in the data we obtain via Dun & Bradstreet.

Can I see who has searched me?
Can I see who has searched me?
192.com is the safest directory enquiry service in the world because every search done is carefully recorded and stored for a minimum of two years. We know who has searched what, when, and how. This audit trail makes the site safer because while we provide in depth information on everyone and every business in the UK, unlikely event that someone has abused our site, we are able to provided enormously detailed information to the data subject or to the police upon request.
The fact is that anyone wishing to abuse information leaves fingerprints when they use 192.com, and those fingerprints allow us to trace the searcher. That makes 192.com a safer place to be listed since those that wish to abuse information do not want audit trails and log files to record their every click. That is why information on 192.com is safer here than it is in the local library (where no CCTV or monitoring of who searches what is possible).
However if you suspect that you information has been abused, and you wish to see who has searched your record please complete the contact us form and for a payment of a £10 administration fee, we will post within 7 days details of who has searched you, and when, to the address you have provided when registering with 192.com.
This service is only available to registered users of 192.com, to register please click here.
If you are interested in this service please contact us.
Alternatively please ask the police to contact us
and we will be happy to furnish the log file information to them for free.

Why can't I find who I'm looking for?
Why can't I find who I'm looking for?
There are several possible reasons that the search you have conducted has 'no results found'.
Our electoral roll (names and addresses) data spans from 2002-2009. The last full electoral roll available on www.192.com is the 2002 version. Since 2003 we have only been able to publish the edited electoral roll. The edited electoral roll excludes all the names and addresses of those people who have 'opted out' of having their information made available for commercial purposes. If the person you are looking for has 'opted out' then they will not appear in our Electoral Roll data.
If you are looking for a telephone number you need to enter a surname and a locality, as long as you have entered these two search criteria then a telephone number will be returned if we have one. It will help to narrow the search down if you enter a first initial also. If no number is given try the person who they live with as the telephone account could be in their name. If you still don't get a telephone number the person you are looking for maybe Ex Directory with their telecoms provider.
We have always allowed individuals to remove their electoral roll data from our site upon completion of a CO1 form http://www.192.comhttp://statics.192.com/downloads/C01.pdf.
We only have names and addresses of individuals found in the UK. We do not include any international data.

The marker on the map indicating my postcode location is wrong.
The marker on the map indicating my postcode location is wrong.
If the marker for your postcode is in the wrong location, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
If you have entered a full postcode to produce a map and the marker is in slightly the wrong location, this is because the postcode alone is shared between several addresses and therefore may cover a whole street or set of streets. If, however, you enter a full address and you are a paying customer you will see a much more accurate marker on the map. We receive data updates regularly so please keep checking the site for improvements.
