192.com searches out Chameleon PR

192.com has appointed Chameleon PR's consumer division on a retained one year PR contract after a competitive five way pitch.

The programme, which starts immediately, will initially focus on promoting a significant revamp of 192.com Maps. With its complete coverage of UK streets and detailed aerial photography 192.com Maps aims to be the first point of call for UK travel directions and aerial photography and believes it has achieved a significant advantage over rivals such as Google Maps. Part of the programme will focus on promoting this advantage to businesses and there will be several significant partnerships to announce as part of the change.

The campaign will also support the company’s tenth anniversary in the summer and a major relaunch of the entire portal later in the year. Chameleon is tasked with raising awareness among all audiences about 192.com’s refreshed offer, as well as establishing an online engagement programme with key developers, bloggers and e-communities.

With over 1.5 million users every month, 192.com achieved coveted e-Superbrand status last year and won best Online Directory in the 118 Awards for the third year running. The site searches over 630 million records including free directory enquiries, current and historical Electoral Rolls, local business listings, aerial photography, property prices as well as births, marriages and deaths records as far back as the 1861 census.
