192.com publishes the most up–to–date online aerial photography for London
18th August, 2009
192.com, the UK’s leading people, business and place finding website, has today published new aerial photography for London, the most up–to–date imagery available anywhere on the internet.
Captured during September 2008, the new imagery covers 320 square miles of London incorporating the whole of central London and stretches from Heathrow and the M25 in the West to the Thames Estuary in the East.
New images on 192.com include the new Wembley Stadium with its impressive arch and the work on Wimbledon’s new multi million pound roof. Also visible on the new photography is the beginning of the preparations for the matches in the big ashes series taking place in the capital at Lords and the Oval.
Dominic Blackburn, Product Director for 192.com says "This new photography shows a step forward for aerial imagery used on the net and we believe it will help our users to get richer search results and a more enjoyable experience. The images are truly amazing and even let people check out the most recent aerial shots of their home".
The new imagery has been captured using the latest digital camera technology with each image pixel equivalent to 12.5cm from the ground. This results in rich colours and fine ground detail right down to road marketing and street furniture.
Image capture of London is fraught with problems due to the weather and air traffic control over the skies of Heathrow. However, London is a rapidly changing city so it needs to be flown at regular intervals to ensure that the imagery keeps pace with what is actually going on in terms of new buildings, developments and changes to your neighbourhood.
This latest aerial photography for London is now available at www.192.com/places.
